Music for a Great Space is a concert series bringing the finest musicians to the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. Our focus is on classical chamber music, including piano, jazz, organ, vocal, and instrumental ensembles, in the Great Spaces of Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Mission of Music for a Great Space (MGS) is to present a series of inspiring musical performances and educational offerings, opening doors to the diverse cultural interests of the Piedmont Triad community through vocal, organ, and other instrumental performances. MGS is an independent non-profit musical arts organization.
Our organization was founded by Henry and Lucy Ingram. The Ingrams met at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY where they were both piano performance majors. They became a duo-piano team at Eastman and continued giving concerts when they moved to Greensboro in 1958. Dr. Henry Ingram served as a professor at Greensboro College for 38 years.
In 1991 the Ingrams founded Music for a Great Space as an organ recital series. Christ United Methodist Church houses a beautiful Charles Fisk Organ (Opus 82, 1982). Over the years our series has grown to include other types of chamber music - vocal, instrumental, jazz, and others.
